2000

  • 2000 Census data reveals 24-35 year old population is below national average for a community Duluth’s size.

2001

  • Bridge Syndicate launches. Mission is to promote civic, cultural and economic opportunities in the Twin Ports Area for young people.

2002

2004

  • Chamber approaches Bridge Syndicate to collaborate on young professional efforts.

2005

  • Duluth Young Professionals (DYP) is launched by Chamber.
  • DSACF (Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation) hires Community Initiatives Officer to work on ARYA (Attracting and Retaining Young Adult) initiative.

2006

  • DYP expands by adding a Leadership Council.
  • AYRA Task Force established to come up with recommendations for the community.
  • DYP launches Action Teams expanding initiatives.

2007

  • ARYA Task Force rolls out six recommendations in a skit called “Solutions” at the Renegade Theatre.
  • KCCI (Knight Creative Communities Initiative) begins in Duluth; year long process; 1 of 3 communities selected out of 60.
  • DYP concentrates focus to four initiatives: Events, College Connection, Best Places to Work Survey & Awards and Civic Engagement.
  • 34yr old Don Ness wins Duluth mayoral election making him the second youngest mayor in the city’s history.

2008

  • DYP changes name to Fuse Duluth and introduces a membership.
